I’ve now decided to call the song after the best sounding line in the song. I’ve also just decided to just write the first thing in my head ‘cos otherwise I don’t do it at all.
I wrote this song the Sunday before last accidentally when I popped upstairs to do something else. It turned into a nice little rhythm which I can’t play and sing at the same time yet. That’s why I recorded it straight away to see if it worked. Then I added some ‘Whoop whoops’ and as my friend Jawad had left his cahon here I added bashes and hand-claps…agonised for a few days trying to record it properly then just left it when I’d had enough.
The Video was done in one evening really quickly as well and then I faffed about for a day getting everyone in time. The children were throwing in suggestions so it was fun, the street dancers very conveniently were dancing to something at the same speed so that was very convenient. I wanted nice amateur dance not ‘showing off’ stuff, from all over the world thrown together, and I love the cut from Morris dancers to kids in Ghana who are doing pretty much the same thing.
The Morris dancers incidentally are doing their thing outside a Pub in Eggbuckland Plymouth where I went to school. (ps. While we’re thinking about voting, I’m happy to put out something that isn’t about being afraid of the rest of the World 😉 )
